Gardenhood of The Travelling Rose

This piece is written based on Episode of GEET - Hui Sabse Parayi - A Hindi Series on Star One - Episode of 9th August 2010

Well i came across this Rose in a garden. A white rose. it had been sown by a gardener in an outhouse, with loving care. He had fertilized, water it, nurtured it. He had seen it bloom from a small bud into his beautiful flower that was going to spread its fragrance around show its beauty to the seer. Let the world appreciate it by breathing in its perfume, marvel at its beauty and spread the message of love and harmony. One day a princess came to the garden, innocent and beautiful just like the rose. She had taken an early morning sojourn into the Garden to see the sun rise, the garden come to life. But also to dry her wet hair in the sun, let the perfumed air from the garden fill her nostrils and caress her hair. She breathed in deeply taking in the smells that the garden emitted. Loving the freshness of a dew drop filled morning. As she was drying her hair, she saw the gardener water the plants and care for them like a loving father. She remembered her own. She signaled him the beauty of his work in appreciative gestures. Gardener smiled, asked her if she wanted to keep a rose, a white rose. She nodded she loves flowers, their beauty, their fragrance, she said. Gardener almost cut the rose from the plant. She halted him as from the corner of her eye she saw Him, the prince. The stern unyielding Prince who hated flowers. But she wondered isn't that contradictory, if you hate flower why have them in your garden? The rose had been eager to go to the princess well its existence was to spread love and it knew the princess was in love. She had smiled looking at him. But before it could find itself perhaps in her hands, her hair, her desk she had gone, run away on seeing the Prince who never gave it any attention. It sulked, oh today i have stay on the plant and spread love from afar, it thought. Just then the Prince came, it thought if only I knew how to cower, shrivel up even on the plant, fall off perhaps because to be looked at with scorn by the Prince was surely fate worse than death. But as it thought of ways to pretend dead, it saw something that made it stand straight, in all its glory. Lord behold, the Prince smiled. Was it dreaming? It asked a thorn to prick it. "Ouch" it said when thorn complied. The Prince came near it, cause it was the very one that the Princess had admired. He touched me, it thought, would miracles ever cease? It was the lightest caress, like feather that made it smile. It sprayed a little more fragrance to entrap the Prince. Take me with you, bemoaned silently the rose, Take me with you. The Prince must have heard, it jumped for joy. For, the very next minute it found itself in his hand, Oh the first touch brought bliss and almost doors of heaven shown, for its very purpose was that much near fulfillment. To spread love. And the Prince was in love. Wonder of wonders, it thought! Oh the Pirnce had surely fallen in love cause only a fool in love would talk to himself. It had heard stories from cousins who had seen their brothers and sisters fools who talked to them in love. Ah! today seems to be my lucky day it thought. Just then it saw the Princess come down the stairs, the Prince ready to give the flower. But wait, they have company. The Prince quickly put it next to his heart, protected from scornful eyes that were enemies of lovers. It sat there waiting for its journey's end, hearing the steady rhythm of the Prince's heartbeat. Slowly it was brought out and then put in a ----FILE? Why there it wanted to scream the Princess was to the right. Maybe she will take the file and hence me it surmised not unhappily. But fate had something else in store, it had to go through pain to show love to the Princess, it first found itself in one pair of hands, then other and then third. And before it could stop itself from reeling, it was gravity working and itself falling as if from a skyscraper, hurtling down at a breakneck speed. Save me, it screamed, but no one heard. Princess, it cried out but they were arguing amongst themselves instead of attending to its bruises. It felt hurt. So this was what real world was all about. Pain, rejection. It wanted to go back to the garden, back on the plant. But alas, the umbilical cord was cut, never to be joined. It lay there, shattered to the heart. Just when it thought it had met fate that was sure death, it was picked up slowly by .....oh thank god...it gave a silent prayer, the Princess. Before it would rise in elation, before it could rejoice, it got another jolt of its life.... it found itself int eh dark hole. a pit. cast away like it was a thorn, not a flower, thrown like was not needed. It thought is this my fate, a fate that surely is death?

GEET to help Maan!

Nargis wrote this for you....hope you like it... there is no relevance..or prelude or prologue..just..a small scene of how Geet will help Maan...and may be herself? Maan is working on a project at home, Daadi has bee wanting an audience with him but he has been evading her for the longest time, cause in last few days she has been hinting at finding a girl for Maan. Maan and Geet have settled in happy camaraderie, working well together. Now one can't expect that sparks with not fly, or their eye locks to not happen or accidently touch each other or fall into each other's lap. Yes Maan did that too. Maan had been walking peering into a file and Geet was working at the desk when her pen fell down and she went to pick it up, sitting on her haunches, maan's peripheral vision did not see Geet down and he tripped and landed on her. Daadi had witnessed this small scene with amusement and idea. She went to Geet and said, tumhari madad chahiye! Geet said Ji daadi, Kahiye! She said, ab lagta hai mere pote ki shaadi karwani chahiye, mein uske liye larki dhoodh rahi hoon, Tum usse shaadi ke liye raazi kar do. Badi help ho jaayegi. Meine photos ki ek album bana di hai kuch aanth dus larkiyon ki usse ye file deke, manwa lo shaadi karne ke liye. Geet went and held Daadi hands and, Bada sahi idea hai daadi. Woh shaadi karlenge to shayad thore kaam ho jaayenge Dhust Danav aur unka famous gussa ko hamesha naak pe sajaa rehta hai woh bhi kam ho jaayega. Mein bilkul madad karoongi aapki daadima. Sir shaadi kar lenge to mujhe daantna band to kar denge. Aur unhone meri itni madad ki hai hamesha to mein unki shaadi karwane mein madad nahi kar sakti? Daadi said haan, phir woh sirf pyar jo karea tumhein. Hein? Said Geet, Kya kaha daadi. She said I said, woh sirf pyaar karega to tumhein tangg nahi karega na'. Haan, ye sahi hai, shaking her head from side to side. Maan was in the home office. Concentrating on the project blue print when Geet breezes in. his heart did cartwheels as he saw her but he maintained a stern expression. Ye larki mujhe pagal kar degi he thought and then got back to his work. Geet sat drumming on the desk, thinking of a way to give the album to him and was contemplating on what to say to him when he looked up and said, Tum ye karna band karogi. Tum auratoon kabhi shaanti se kaam nahi hota? Geet muttered, Shanti bhi to aurat hai! maan said Huh! Geet replied, ainwaai, Shanti Shanti karte ho, koi Shanti ko laate kyun nahi, phir to mil jaayegi na! Maan says, tum pagal ho gayee ho kya? Ye Shanti kaun hai? Tumhari Biwi, said Geet. Huh! Biwi? Roared maan, Geet tum pagal ho, jaao apna kaam karo aur mujhe akela chorr do. Huh! Pehle Shanti mangte hai ab akele rehna chahte hain. Maan got up from the desk and came around to Geet and put one hand on his hip and other on table and said kya bakwaas kar rahi ho Geet, Tum ne kuch peeya hai kya? Geet says, nahi, aap distract kar rahe hain mujhe' mein aapko madad karne aayee hoon aur woh mein karke rahoongi' Aapko shanti chahiye na to mein aapko doongi..manzoor? Geet, Maan said exasperatedly, what crap are you talking? What is this Shanti and you will bring it. Tum jaao to hi Shaanti milegi na mujhe. Geet gets up suddenly and is very close to maan and points at Maan saying, Ab sahi baat kahi na' Chaliye, Aap Shanti ko pasand kijiye, mein chali jaati hoon! She gave the album in his hand. He asked ye kya hai? Shanti ki photo answered Geet sweetly. What? Howls maan. Geet abhi yahan se chali jaao, throwing the album on the desk. Ye sab kya hai. Geet has tears in her eyes and pouts replying in a cracked voice, Daadi ne kaha ki aapki shaadi karwani hai to aapko larkiyon ki tasveer dikhaoon taaki aap shaadi kar lo. Mein aapki madad karna chahti hoon aur aap mujhe daant rahe hain'!! She sobs. Maan closes his eyes, Shaadi, Geet ko daadi ne uksaaya hai iska matlab, he thinks and then not able to stand her crying he says. Agar mein tasveer dekhu to tum kya dogi mujhe? Geet jumps up and down lightly on her feet with her hands clapping silently and says Jo aap kahein' He smiles inwardly at having cornered her in her game. Now he can get rid of her he thought. Huh! Who am I kidding. Iski bak bak hi to mujhe achchi lagti hai. ye chup hoti hai to achcha nahi lagta. Again he closes her eyes and thinks ye larki mujhe pagal kar degi. He said Ok! Ab jaao, mein dekh loonga! Nahi cries Geet aapko abhi dekhni hogi aur pasand bhi karni hogi. Mien daadi ko kya jawab doongi. Aap larki pasand karo daadi usse baat karegi. Maan reluctantly picks up the album. Geet stands next to him excited to see which one he will pick. He opens the first one and looks at her. Geet makes a face. Iski naak theek nahi hai. Maan turns the page and raises an eyebrow'Chi'ye larki hai ya larka'baal kitne chhote hain? Maan smiles at her and says kyon, chhote baal sirf larko ke hote hain. She looks at the picture and says Nahi par aapki Shanti ke baal lambe hone chahiye, feeling her hair. Maan follows her hand moving down the length of her braid and thinks of the time he wanted to run his hand in them and when he wanted to tuck an errant strand behind her ear. He quickly brought himself back to present and turned the page saying Chalo next. Geet scowls, ye to bilkul aapki tarah ghoorti hai, Sir! Dekha? Babaji, koi achchi shanti to dikhado giving a small prayer with hands folded and looking skywards. Maan turns to her and says, Dekho, tum shaadi karwana chahti ho ya tudwana? Geet says, nahi Sir, par aapke layak bhi honi chahiye. Chaliye ab agli photo aap kehna pasand hai ya nahi I wont say anything and puts a finger on her lips. Maan is again distracted with those lips till Geet with her finger on her lips, signals him to turn the page silently. Maan gives a small shake of his head and turns the page and stops. Geet is looking at Maan's face and not the picture this time, trying to see his expression on what he thinks about the girl. She sees him smile and then stare at the picture lovingly, she thinks this is it. She starts off, ye pasand aayee na..aapko Sir, looking into his eyes, mein abhi daadi ko bataati hoon ki aapko Shanti mil gayee' and turns to go when maan catches her wrist and says, Dekhogi nahi, kaun hai? Nahi nahi! Aap dekhiye mein daadi ko bulane jaati hoon ki meine kaam kar diya' maan tugs her towards him and says Ab to mujhe dogee na ko mein maangoo! Geet is like haan, doongi'par aapko chahiye kya? He takes her hand and puts it on the photo and says Ye! Geet's eyes rounded on seeing her photo.
